New ISCAR UPGRADES for Fast Metal Removal
A wind of innovation is whirling from the headquarters of ISCAR, delivering the new UPGRADE campaign, which guarantees that "The Only Way is Up". The new UPGRADE campaign, scheduled to be released at the end of this year, will offer new tools for milling, turning, hole making and multifunction applications, complementing the FMR tool families with one aim in mind - to increase productivity on the shop floor and to boost profits.
ISCAR's philosophy has always encouraged users to UPGRADE their cutting tools to the latest available technology, in the same way that computer users UPGRADE their software and hardware. The cutting tool technology bears a strong resemblance to the Information Technology industry, where newly developed products aim to exceed their predecessors by exhibiting improved performances or enhanced features.
ISCAR's highlights for this year, with no doubt, are the new coatings, new substrate compositions, new cutting edge geometries, new sizes, new tangential clamping mechanisms and new coolant nozzle features.
ISCAR's future trends incorporate new carbide grades for efficient and economical machining, more cutting edges per insert and advanced tangential clamping mechanisms which will significantly reduce the cutting forces.
The introduction of the AL-TEC (PVD coating mainly for nodular cast iron), a-TECH (CVD coating mainly for grey cast iron) (pic.1) and the DO-TECH (dual CVD + PVD coating for improved strength) (pic.2) will revolutionize the way industry machines cast iron.
Furthermore, "ISCAR Goes Mini" is another trend within the UPGRADE campaign, referring to minimizing the sizes of the TANGMILL inserts into MINITANG (pic.3 & 4), in order to facilitate fine pitch configuration which will accelerate feed rates. In addition, the small size of the inserts and their tangential orientation in the pockets enable a much larger core diameter, in terms of tool design, when compared to regular radially oriented inserts.
New innovative grooving and parting tools (pic.5 & 6) will be revealed at the UPGRADE campaign. They exhibit outstanding a stable, rigid clamping mechanism that also leads to excellent part straightness and superior surface finish. Some of the new tools are designed for heavy duty parting applications for the pipe industry, using a wide cutting edge for parting off steel, stainless steel, titanium and other workpiece materials. The slitting and slotting tools family (pic.7 & 8) will be UPGRADED as well, with narrow or wide slotting capabilities and fine pitch slotting cutters for higher feed rates, which will consequently provide numerous economical benefits. Additionally, the HELITURN family has recently expanded and will now offer new sizes of helical cutting edges, as well as a silicon nitride grade for cast iron.
